Facts about Vascular Ultrasound Date: Sept. 21 How do you know if you have healthy veins? A peripheral vascular ultrasound uses sound waves to capture images of structures inside the body to find blockages or plaque in the arteries that may cause stroke. If you have leg pain, bulging veins or swelling, this non-invasive test can help identify whether peripheral vascular disease is present. Leslie Scoutt, MD, YNHH attending physician and professor of diagnostic radiology at Yale School of Medicine, will summarize the most common clinical applications of peripheral vascular ultrasound: abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid artery stenosis, peripheral arterial disease, deep vein thrombosis, vein mapping, varicose/venous insufficiency and hemodialysis access. Walk for Lupus Now Date: Sept. 26
