Coronary Artery Bypass

bypass mortality

Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) offers the most advanced and modern coronary bypass procedures, including extensive use of multiple arterial conduits and minimally invasive approaches. Our senior surgeons have each performed more than 3,000 bypass operations.

Bypass even for weakened hearts
We were one of a small number of centers worldwide that demonstrated that patients with impaired hearts could undergo successful coronary artery bypass. Before our groundbreaking work of the 1980s and 1990s, the medical profession had felt that weak hearts could not withstand the stress of a bypass operation. Now, bypass for impaired hearts is accepted worldwide.
