Renovascular Surgery and Endovascular Interventions

Improving circulation to the kidneys
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a significant risk factor for heart and vascular disease, as well as stroke. Hypertension can also affect the kidneys, causing kidney failure and the eventual need for dialysis. Kidney failure is a major cause of disability and death worldwide.

Hypertension and kidney failure can be caused by blockages in the renal arteries to the kidneys. Treatment of these blockages in some patients can either cure or improve the hypertension, and in turn, stabilize kidney function and avoid dialysis.

The Heart and Vascular Center offers a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic options. Our physicians have broad experience in both endovascular and conventional operative treatment. We match the treatment to each individual patient’s circumstances and case.

We offer non-invasive and minimally invasive modalities that can characterize the anatomy and assess both the hemodynamic and functional significance of lesions and blockages in the blood vessels
