Those Who Have Advanced Health Care

This annual report, the second in our triology leading up to the hospital's 175th anniversary in 2001, honors those who have advanced health care. One thousand years ago, the treatment of disease was still coupled with magic and superstition. One hundred years ago, modern medicine was starting to come into its own, with the X-ray providing the first noninvasive glimpse inside the human body. Today we access information about illness on the Internet. Yet, throughout all these eras, one thing has remained constant in the delivery of health care: the one-to-one relationship of a caregiver to a patient.
