Your Postpartum Room
You will enjoy the indirect lighting, quiet halls, and beautiful views of Long Island Sound offered in Yale-New Haven's 38 postpartum rooms. Our postpartum rooms are semi-private or private depending on the number of new moms in the hospital.
Enjoy At Your Request room service dining, an innovative new concept in patient meal service. With Yale-New Haven Hospital’s new room service dining, you may order meals from a menu of more than 45 entrees and phone in the order for delivery between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Restaurant-style menus are conveniently placed at the bedside in all rooms. A cooked-to-order meal arrives within 45 minutes.
In your room you can enjoy a relaxing shower, watch the television or use the telephone locally at no charge. Long distance calls can be billed collect or to a telephone credit card. Friends can get your telephone number by calling Patient Information at (203) 688-4177.
To help you rest, our telephones are programmed so you will not receive calls between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., but you can call out at any time. We also provide telephones for patients who are deaf or hearing impaired or have other special needs.
Before you go home, to celebrate the birth of your baby, Yale-New Haven will present you with your baby's first birthday cake with a special gift you can take home!
