Pre-Admission & Testing Center

Scheduling your visit
Your Pre-Admission & Testing Center visit needs to take place 10 to 14 days before your surgery or procedure. Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., by calling (203) 688-6539 or (203) 688-5860.

How long will the visit take and what should I do to prepare?
Your appointment will take approximately two hours, although time may vary depending on what tests are required. Please bring your prescription medications with you. Fasting is not required before your visit.

Where is the Pre-Admission Testing Center?
The center is located in the Admitting Office on the first floor of the hospital's East Pavilion. For your convenience, valet parking service is available at the main entrance of the hospital at 20 York Street for a $8 charge.

What to expect during your visit

	First, you will meet with your patient account representative to verify your demographic and insurance information. Remember to bring your insurance cards.
	A member of the nursing staff will interview you.
	You may have to have blood drawn, give a urine sample, have a chest X-ray and electrocardiogram (EKG) if your doctor requests them.
	You will speak with an anesthesiologist who will perform a preoperative assessment. You will be asked about your medical history, medications you are taking, and if you have any allergies. Your blood pressure and pulse rate will be checked. The anesthesiologist will give this information to the anesthesia team assigned to your surgery.
