Protect your brain! Wear a helmet!
Do you care about how you look? Do you like to be in style and wear
"in" clothing? Many kids say the reason they don't wear bike helmets is
that they won't look cool or their friends will make fun of them.
But bike helmets are important to protect your brain from injury.
Wear your helmet correctly:
- It must be buckled.
- It should fit snugly and be centered on your head, not leaning back.
- It should not move around or slide forward over your eyes.
- It should be approved by ANSI or Snell.
A bike that is too big or too small can cause accidents. Check to see
if your bike is the right size. Sit on the seat of the bike. If the bottom
of both feet can rest comfortably on the ground, your bike is the right
size for you. Protect your brain! Wear a helmet when biking, skateboarding
or roller-blading!
Activity
Practice the right way to wear a helmet. Have your parents check your
bike size.
