Yale-New Haven Hospital news release Child magazine names Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital among the best in the country
A comprehensive 247-question survey, guided by leading pediatric experts, examined vital medical information including, survival rates; the number of complex procedures and intricate surgeries conducted; national support for clinical research studies; efforts to reduce medical errors; and the quality and training of the doctors and nurses – as well as child-friendliness, support for families, and community involvement. To be considered for the Child magazine survey, a hospital had to be among the 116 members of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions. “The recognition by Child magazine is a testament to the dedication of the physicians, nurses and staff who on a daily basis demonstrate their commitment to putting patients first,” said Michael Apkon, M.D., Ph.D, vice president and executive director of the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital. “Our inclusion in Child magazine speaks to the dedication and passion they convey while working to advance research and treatment of childhood illnesses at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital.” “What distinguishes Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital is that we not only provide cutting-edge, state-of-the-art care to children in New Haven, but we are also advancing care throughout the region, through our research and education programs at the Yale School of Medicine, to make children’s lives better in the hospital and at home,” said Margaret Hostetter, M.D., Jean McLean Wallace professor and chair of the department of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine and physician-in-chief at YNHCH. Along with being ranked 30th among the best pediatric institutions in the country in Child magazine’s bi-annual survey, Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital is also the recipient of many other accolades that honors its focus on patient care, research and education.
