Tommy Fund prepares for first–ever radiothon

Tommy FundNEW HAVEN — The Tommy Fund at Yale-New Haven Hospital is gearing up its first-ever radiothon to raise funds in support of the fight against childhood cancer.

The Tommy Fund radiothon, to be held February 28 and 29, will be broadcast live on WPLR 99.1 FM radio. During those hours, listeners may call 866-96-TOMMY to donate to the fund, which supports children with cancer and their families and works to improve the cure rate of childhood cancer.

The Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer acts as a helping hand to the pediatric oncology department at Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and the Yale Cancer Center. Through collaborative efforts, they are able to diagnose and provide treatment to children with blood disorders and malignancies and conduct research and teaching in the field of childhood cancer.

"We are excited about our first radiothon," said Michelle D’Amore, executive director of The Tommy Fund. "It presents a great opportunity for people to learn more about The Tommy Fund and the brave children who have already been helped by its support. Information shared during the event will also explain the many ways donations, no matter what size, will help in the fight."

The radiothon will run from 5:30 a.m. through midnight on February 28 and 5:30 through 10 a.m. on February 29.
