History
Trauma Center
Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is the only Pediatric Level I Trauma Center in Connecticut and is the regional Level I Adult Trauma Center for Southern Connecticut. YNHH was re-verified by the American College of Surgeons and designated by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health as a level I Trauma Center in 2007. For over 180 years Yale New-Haven Hospital (YNHH) has been an essential provider of a broad range of acute and tertiary care services throughout the region.
Consistent with the hospital’s mission, the Section of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Surgical Emergencies of the Yale University School of Medicine provides exemplary care for critically ill and injured patients while enhancing the knowledge in the trauma discipline through formal educational efforts and independent research.
