Patient, Family, and Visitor Services Frequently Asked QuestionsFor the family and visitors: When are visiting hours? Intensive Care Unit visiting hours allow for up to four members of a patient’s immediate family to visit anytime, 24-hours a day. From time to time, you may be asked leave the patient’s room if some procedures need to be performed. Adult Emergency Department visiting hours are limited to one visitor per patient during the first 15 minutes of each hour. During the remaining 45 minutes, visitors must wait in the waiting area. Visitor passes must be displayed. Exceptions or suspension of visitation are at the discretion of medical and nursing staff. Can children visit? Can I bring flowers, plants, or balloons to the SICU or ED? Can I correspond to patients? Patient’s Name At this time patients do not have access to e-mail, but you can send an e-mail greeting that gets printed and delivered to the patient by a Yale-New Haven Hospital volunteer.
