When are visiting hours?
General visiting hours are from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. These hours apply to all units except pediatrics, intensive care and psychiatry. 

Intensive Care Unit visiting hours allow for up to four members of a patient’s immediate family to visit anytime, 24-hours a day. From time to time, you may be asked leave the patient’s room if some procedures need to be performed.

Adult Emergency Department visiting hours are limited to one visitor per patient during the first 15 minutes of each hour. During the remaining 45 minutes, visitors must wait in the waiting area. Visitor passes must be displayed. Exceptions or suspension of visitation are at the discretion of medical and nursing staff.

Can children visit?
Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit unless it is pre-arranged with the patient care team.

Can I bring flowers, plants, or balloons to the SICU or ED?
Flowers, plants and latex balloons are not allowed in the patient’s room in the Intensive Care Units or in the Emergency Department. Mylar balloons are permitted.

Can I correspond to patients?
Cards and letters can be addressed to the patients as follows:

At this time patients do not have access to e-mail, but you can send an e-mail greeting that gets printed and delivered to the patient by a Yale-New Haven Hospital volunteer. Click here for more information.

Do I have to pay for parking?
Yes, and the cost varies depending on where you park.  Please see “Parking & directions” for valet parking information and parking garage fees.

How do I make a clinic appointment?
Please call (203) 785-4080 and provide attending physician when you call.  The appointment can usually be scheduled about one to two after your stay.

Where is the clinic?
The clinic is in the Yale Physician’s Building at 800 Howard Ave. third floor Surgical Specialty Clinic.

Who will see me in the clinic?
An attending surgeon, resident surgeon, physician assistant or a nurse practitioner will see you in the clinic.

Where do I park for clinic visits?
Your best choice for parking when visiting the clinic is to park in the Howard Avenue Garage. It is right next to 800 Howard Avenue where the clinic is located.  For more information, see “Parking & directions”.
