What to bring with you
If admitted to inpatient care at Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, please make note of the following:

• All items accompanying the patient to the hospital will be examined by patient care staff.
• Weapons, potentially dangerous objects, alcohol, illicit drugs and medications from home are not allowed.
• Please leave cell phones and all valuables at home.
• All electronic equipment must be battery operated. Electrical cords are prohibited.
• Limit clothing to what will fit within the bureaus in patient rooms. Patients should leave sexually provocative clothing and items with alcohol- or drug-related logos at home.
• Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital is not responsible for damage, loss or theft of belongings. Safes are available on the patient care unit for the storage of valuables which must accompany the patient, but where possible, valuables should be left at home.

Special patient services
In addition to specialized psychiatric services, patients of Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital have access to regular Yale-New Haven Hospital services for patients with special needs.

• Deaf or hard of hearing persons
• Interpreter services
• Patient advocates

Patient information
By policy, staff of the hospital cannot provide information of any kind regarding a psychiatric patient's condition or even acknowledge that one is a patient to anyone other than the patient's legal guardian or designee.
